Following on from its launch in 2016, Lechlade Tennis Club has once again opened its doors to provide the LTA's Tennis for Kids coaching scheme.
Designed to get young players involved with the sport, Tennis for Kids is a 6-week coaching programme for players ages 4-11 years old who have never experienced tennis before.
Last year the LTA recorded that 20,000 children across Great Britain took part...This year, the aim is to make that number even higher, and Lechlade Tennis Club is doing its part to help out!
Players who join this programme are fortunate enough to get 6 weeks of high quality tennis lessons which have been designed by expert coaches at the LTA and then delivered by the Andy (Head Coach) who is a registered Tennis for Kids coach. An exclusive Tennis for Kids Babolat racket and set of tennis balls are also provided per child to aid their development away from the court as well as a personalised T-shirt to wear during sessions.
So, what is it all about? During the 6 weeks players will learn how to hold the racket and will cover the major shots associated with tennis while building upon the child’s confidence. It is a lot of fun and helps keep them active while working in a safe and relaxed environment to learn new skills.
After delivering the first course, Andy had this to say about the experience "It's a fantastic way to get children involved with learning the game. We have had great fun while on court and have learnt a lot of new games, and parents were really engaged with the whole course. Most came to sessions early just to practice hitting tennis balls out on the field, which as a coach, is the best thing to see! I'm very proud of how well all the players on this course have done and I look forward to seeing them on court again in the future. Maybe one day they will challenge me to a match!"
Congratulations to all our Tennis for Kids Graduates, the club is incredibly impressed with how well you have done!
